We’re excited to have at Thought Matters this month David Wardle exploring Histories of the Protestant Reformation(s).

Martin Luther’s Reformation has been called ‘Christianity’s dangerous idea’ and the ‘shout that awakened the nations’. Luther himself is described as the founder of a ‘mighty fortress’ and a person whose influence extended well beyond matters of faith. Indeed, many have argued that not only did Luther’s protest set in train a series of events that tore Western Christianity in two, but that it also created modern Europe. This presentation will not only explore ‘The Reformation’ (or, should that be, ‘reformations’?) but the debate that still haunts our faith half a millennia later.

David Wardle (M.EdAdmin (First Class Honours), B.Ed., Grad Dip Theo, DipTchg) is the Education Officer for the School of Officer Training and the Academic Dean for the School of Bible and Mission at Booth College of Mission. He is the third generation of Salvationists in his family and is currently the Corps Sergeant Major and Discipleship co-ordinator at Upper Hutt Corps.

See you there…
