The following presentation was given at Booth College of Mission in New Zealand on 23 October 2014 as part of our “Thought Matters” Seminars. These seminars are a monthly gathering for theological reflection and discussion hosted by Booth College of Mission.
This presentation was prepared by Lynelle Jellyman on the topic: ‘Sexuality and Other Hobbies for the Single Adult.’
Does the Bible actually say “Thou shalt not have sex without a marriage licence”? Where? Does it matter how the church speaks of sexuality with single adults?
Lynnelle Jellyman will bring a personal perspective on the issue of sexuality and singleness. She will explore not only how the church gives sexual guidance to the single adult, but the contexts that these instructions reflect. She will offer some recommendations for healthier, more realistic support which could be offered to teenage and adult singles in our communities of faith.
Lynnelle has recently completed studies in Human Resource Management and Sport and Leisure studies. She works in administration at Midland Division and tries to make God’s kingdom come by volunteering, being a good friend, employee, daughter and citizen.
