Academic and Mission Leader Development Scholarships for 2015

Please see below a note from the Territorial Programme Department regarding Academic and Mission Leader scholarships available for Salvationists in 2015, including academic scholarships. If you (or someone you know) are interested in either of these, contact your Corps Officer for more info, or drop us an email (bcm@nzf.salvationarmy.org) and we’ll be happy to assist you in any way that we can.

Good morning/ afternoon

As we come to the end of another year we see a new year ahead of possibilities for Mission.

I am emailing to remind you that we have two scholarships available in 2015. Please see TSA minute SMF1213 for more information and application forms (these have been updated from 2013 and the new form will be attached to the minute on Tuesday 2 December) for the following funding opportunities:

Academic scholarships – There are 3 full time and 5 part time scholarships available in 2015. There will only be one application date each year so now is the time to get those applications in. Please encourage any eligible people to submit an application – this may be students moving from high school into tertiary study or adult students moving into a new field. A range of qualifications will be considered – the main criteria is that the people applying are working to achieve The Salvation Army mission in whatever field they are involved in – for example caring for people in aged care facilities, transforming lives by teaching the next generation in our schools, reforming society through journalism or public policy… as well as qualifications which will equip for work in TSA contexts – theology, social work, counselling, management, etc. If you have any questions about the academic scholarships or your application please do not hesitate to contact myself or Phil Daly at Booth College of Mission. Scholarships are due at DHQ by 15 February.

Mission Leader Development – Funds are available for those already involved in leadership “to undertake strategic short term, high impact development opportunities to enhance the mission of The Salvation Army”. Examples of such opportunities include attending courses, conferences, short term internships, site visits, study tours, etc.” This is a fabulous initiative which could make an enormous difference to the mission effectiveness of your leaders. Applications for these scholarships are due by 20th February or 20th August. Talk with your Corps or Centre Officer about this funding. If you have any questions about the Mission Leader Development scholarships or your application please do not hesitate to contact me.

There are also funds available and covered in the same minute for Local Mission initiatives and Territorial Mission Initiatives. See your Divisional team to discuss these opportunities.

Ask your Corps Officer for a copy of the full minute, or download one of the forms below.
