Thought Matters Seminar
Thursday 24th July 2014

Booth College of Mission Chapel
Thought Matters continues with ‘Sexuality: Is it still whosoever will?’
Salvationists have always claimed to practice a gospel of whosoever will may come (c.f. The Songbook of The Salvation Army, song 824). The mission statement of The Salvation Army in Aotearoa New Zealand is still to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. However, what happens when how we do church makes it difficult for people to come? Does some of what goes on at church inadvertently exclude certain people?
Cadets Sarah Green and Daniel Bisko will help start this critical conversation by exploring how sexuality is becoming something of a new litmus test of our openness to whosoever.
Cadet Green will look at how singles fit into a church culture that is dominated by marriage and Cadet Bisko will trace how a sexualisation of Jesus in songs can make it difficult for both men and women in worship.
See the attached flyer for more information and please pass this on to your staff and congregations as applicable.
We hope to see you there.
